July 17-Leger's Restaurant Report Card
This week's restaurant inspection scores come to us from the Beaumont Health Department. HUNT BROS. PIZZA 6850 25TH ST. GRADE=78 We begin with Hunt Brothers Pizza on 25th Street. Inspector Jones found no dates and labels on food in the cooler which means it could be old and unusable. There were toxic items next to the take out containers. Thermometers were needed to make sure the food was at safe temperatures, and rags were not stored in sanitizer which is required to kill germs. Hunt Brothers Pizza in Groves gets a 78. CARLA'S CUPBOARD 217 MAGNOLIA AVENUE PORT NECHES/GRADE=85 Now to Carla's Cupboard on Magnolia Avenue. Inspector Jones found the refrigerator was not cold enough, there was a personal drink on a kitchen table which could spread germs, rags were not stored in sanitizer and the floors needed to be painted. Carla's Cupboard gets an 85. MAMA'S KITCHEN 2000 MAIN AVENUE GROVES GRADE=86 Next is Mama's Kitchen in Groves. Inspector Jones found employees handling food without gloves which in this case was not sanitary. Thermometers were needed in a refrigerator to ensure food was at a safe temperature. Mama's Kitchen gets an 86. MCDONALD'S 4500 TWIN CITY HIGHWAY IN GROVES GRADE=87 and finally Inspector Jones checked out McDonalds on Twin City Highway in Groves. She found gnats and flies, there was mold in the ice machine and cabinets needed to be cleaned. McDonalds gets an 87.
