Nov. 13-Leger's Restaurant Report Card

This week's Restaurant Report Card comes from the Port Arthur Health Department.

SCALCO'S SUPERMARKET 749 GULFWAY DRIVE/GRADE=65 FOLLOWUP=79

We begin with Scalco's Supermarket. Inspector Freeman found rat droppings and gnats, he ordered management to clean equipment, floors and get antibacterial soap. He said the steam table was not keeping food hot enough and needed to be replaced. Scalco's earned a failing grade of 65.. but during a follow-up inspection it improved to a 79.

LA HACIENDA MEXICAN RESTAURANT 7700 9TH AVE. GRADE=78

Now to La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant on 9th Avenue. The inspector found rat droppings in the storage area.. And gnats in the restaurant. He also said the cooler needed to be serviced so it could maintain proper temperatures, the inspector told management to remove food boxes from the floor. La Hacienda in Port Arthur gets a 78.

SINH'S RESTAURANT 3708 GULFWAY DRIVE/GRADE=85

Next Inspector Freeman checked out Sinh's Restaurant. He found a lack of proper hair restraints, german roaches, and food items on the floor. Sinh's Restaurant gets an 85.

CASA OLE 3100 HWY 365/GRADE=87

Now to Casa Ole 3100 Highway 365. Inspector Freeman found gnats in the restaurant, and the manager needed to be certified in safe food management. The inspector also called for more frequent garbage disposal. Casa Ole gets an 87.

DOMINO'S PIZZA 2448 MEMORIAL BLVD/GRADE=88

and finally the inspector checked out Domino's Pizza on Memorial Blvd. Inspector Freeman found german roaches, ants and rat droppings in the restaurant. He also noticed a sour smell in the rear of the facility. He called for more frequent cleaning of floors and around equipment. domino's in on Memorial Blvd gets an 88.
