Central's Scholar Athletes

KFDM would like to thank Patrick Blake along with Central High School for introducing us  to Jasmine Guidry and Kenneth Allison.

These two remarkable students plan on attending Prarie View A&M next fall.

Jasmine is in the medical magnet program at Central.

She plays volleyball and softball, is a member of the NAACP, and she volunteers her spare time as the president of the Trinity Valley District Association, which brings area church youth together.

On a side note, she's also president of her church youth choir. That's right, she hits the high notes as a soprano.

Kenneth is the student body vice president at Central. He'll be playing baseball for coach Michael Robertson next year for the Prairie View Panthers who have won two straight SWAC championships.

While at central, we learned that Kenneth is a member of the recent Boys to Men program geared to push Jaguar teens to succeed after high school.

On Wednesday, the students were asked who was on honor roll, who had no referrals, and who planned on going to college.

Kenneth, along with several upperclassmen, stood proud in front of the younger students.

Kenneth said he's pretty sure he wants to pursue a career in business after college and that his father is probably the proudest of his accomplishments to this point of his life.

Jasmine was very grateful for her entire family and said her faith in God was a direct source for her success.
