Tax rollback election
BROOKELAND - by Phil Yocom/Toledo Chronicle - The Brookeland Independent School District is in the midst of early voting in a Tax Roll Back Election.
A spokesperson with the School District said in a telephone interview on Tuesday that only 33 voters had cast ballots thus far in a very light turnout.
Early voting will continue through Friday, July 30th, with the election taking place on Saturday, July 31st. Voting hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Districts Administration Building on Loop 149 in Brookeland.
On Saturday, July 31st, the polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
The current property tax rate of $1.17 per $100.00 valuation has been in effect since 2009 and is $0.13 over the rollback rate of $1.04.
