Lightning sparks fire, destroys home

TYLER COUNTY - by Steve Stewart/KJAS - A lightning strike from a small thunderstorm over Tyler County is being blamed for a fire that destroyed a house late Thursday evening. The incident occured at about 9:30 on Farm to Market Road 1746, 3 miles east of Woodville.

Volunteer firefighters from both the Woodville and Spurger Fire Departments arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames, and the roof reportedly collapsed shortly after their arrival.

Firemen battled the blaze for over two hours before bringing it under control.

According to emergency radio traffic there were no injuries, and no other houses were damaged.
