Man falls 18 feet

It happened this morning at a business in Jefferson County.
Labelle Fannett Volunteer Fire Chief Charles Sonnier says the man fell through a roof, plunged about 18 feet, and landed on a piece of machinery.
At about 10:30 this morning the Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at Delta Industrial on Garth Street off Highway 124.
An employee told us a worker was on the roof of the building, repairing hurricane damage, when he fell through and hit a piece of machinery on the way down.
He was put in a Southeast Texas EMS ambulance and stabilized, then moved to a nearby business where the helicopter could more easily land.
It took about 25 minutes for the man to be flown to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth in Beaumont.
Chief Charles Sonnier told us the man had injuries to his ribs and complained he had trouble breathing. He also received a cut to his head.
"That's metal. When your body falls and hits metal that far, that does hurt. But he's in good shape. He's in good spirits, he's talking to us. So, that's good. That's a good sign," says Chief Charles Sonnier, Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department.
Sonnier says the company does a good job of following proper safety practices.

A man has been flown by medical helicopter to a hospital after he fell about 17-18 feet from the roof of a business in Jefferson County.
The Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, according to information provided to KFDM News by Fire Chief Charles Sonnier.
Chief Sonnier said the man fell from the roof of a business at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Garth Street off Highway 124.
