October 6th-Leger's Restaurant Report Card

This week we're checking out restaurant inspection reports from the Beaumont health department.

We've also got an update on a Nederland restaurant we told you about a couple of weeks ago.. it seems they've made some major improvements.

Here's the restaurant report card.

#1. GOLDEN DRAGON BUFFET 6420 EASTEX FREEWAY/GRADE=72

We begin with the Golden Dragon Buffet. Inspector Wilhelm found the sesame chicken at an unsafe temperature, there was no soap at the hand sink and the vent a hood was dirty. Golden Dragon Buffet gets a 72.

#2. IHOP 3830 College/GRADE=72

Next is I Hop on College. Inspector Duriso found mildew in the ice machine, there was bleach on top of the ice machine and there were no tongs to grasp lemons and other items. IHOP on College gets a 72.

#3. MAZZIO'S PIZZA 5025 EASTEX FREEWAY/GRADE=75

Now to Mazzio's Pizza on the Eastex. Chief Inspector Girard found ham, boiled eggs and sprouts at unsafe temperatures. There were chemicals stored with clean utensils. The inspector noted that the management had said previously the restaurant would be remodeled at the beginning of 2006 with new equipment, floors etc..but it never happened. Mazzio's gets a 75.

#4. LA CASITA 9297 COLLEGE/GRADE=76

Inspector Duriso dropped in on La Casita on College and found employees touching tortillas with bare hands, workers were using grocery bags to store hot rice and there were no sanitizer towels to prevent cross contamination. La Casita gets a 76.

#5. GRAND BUFFET 2250 HWY 365 NEDERLAND/GRADE=100

Now an update from Nederland. The owners of the Grand Buffet should be congratulated for a remarkable turnaround. In no time the Grand Buffet improved raised its score from a low of 73.. to a perfect score of 100.
