Hardin-Jefferson's Scholar Athletes - March 3, 2008
We are kicking off a new feature every Monday on KFDM News At Noon where we will be recognizing high school scholar athletes across Southeast Texas.
The idea is that every high school in our viewing area be recognized before we start over and revisit the school. This award will be given to a male and female student from a different school each week.
KFDM came up with a list of criteria which was given to high school principals, athletic directors, and counselors to help determine each school's representative.
We're looking for students that excel in the classroom, show leadership skills on the athletic field, are involved in their communities, and have great attendance to class.
Joel Nolte, principal at Hardin-Jefferson High School helped kick off this program by nominating Jennifer Breeden and Scott Archer.
Both students were thankful to be considered for this honor.
After interviewing them, we found out they share a common favorite subject math.
For athletic accomplishments, Scott is the captain of the golf team. He said he shoots a 75 with a handicap of three.
Jennifer's favorite moment this past season came when she hit a three pointer against rival Orangefield to ruin their perfect district record.

Next week, we'll stop by Legacy Christian Academy.
