I-10 reopens in Lake Charles
Interstate 10 in Lake Charles reopened late Wednesday morning after crews removed butane from an overturned tractor trailer near Westlake.
The truck carrying butane overturned Tuesday morning near the I-10 exit in Westlake. The tanker began leaking butane and State Police Emergency Services closed the Interstate.
The accident prompted State Police to close I-10 East and West. All traffic approaching Lake Charles on Interstate 10 East and Interstate 10 West was diverted onto Interstate 210. The detour took drivers through Lake Charles for approximately 11 miles before they'll connect back to Interstate 10.
State Police remind motorists to drive carefully and to expect an increase in traffic on Louisiana roadways during this holiday week.
