12/18 Restaurant Repord Card

This week's restaurant inspection scores come to us from the Orange County Health Department. The inspectors are responsible for checking out restaurants in all Orange County cities.

MAZZIO'S PIZZA 5108 EDGAR BROWN DRIVE ORANGE/GRADE=76

We begin with Mazzio's Pizza on Edgar Brown Drive in Orange.

Inspector Scales says it appears the air conditioning unit has a leak and the restaurant has several buckets in the kitchen area to catch water. Ceiling tile needs to be replaced, there was mold in the ice machine and poor hygienic practices by employees. Mazzio's Pizza on Edgar Brown Drive in Orange gets a 76.

SONIC 2805 MACARTHUR DRIVE/ORANGE GRADE=79

Now to Sonic on MacArthur Drive in Orange. Inspector Scales again. This time he advised employees to wash hands more often, there was mold in the ice machine and on drink dispensers, the said the entire kitchen needed cleaning. Sonic in Orange gets a 79.

THE COOKERY RESTAURANT 7112 IH 10 MCLEWIS/GRADE=81

Next is the Cookery Restaurant on I-10 in McLewis. Inspector English found food at the wrong temperature, some pizza had to be thrown away, there was an employee without a hair restaurant and a worker with artificial nails which could spread germs. The Cookery in McLewis gets an 81.

CASA OLE 1716 16TH STREET ORANGE/GRADE=81

Inspector Scales checked out Casa Ole on 16th Street in Orange. He found food at an unsafe temperature. There was an employee with earings which is considered unsanitary. The inspector also observed a waitress making hot sauce for tables and licking the sauce off of her fingers. Slime was found on the drink dispensers. Casa Ole in Orange gets an 81.

Other scores include: La Contina Mexican Grill, 2709 MacArthur Drive in Orange with a 90; Domino's Pizza, 2380 Texas Avenue in Bridge City with a 97; Subway, 1090 Texas Avenue in Bridge City with a 94; Flying J Country Store, 7112 IH-10 in McLewis with a 95; McDonald's, 705 North Main Street in Vidor with an 88; Taco Bell, 455 North Main Street in Vidor with a 97; and Jack in the Box, 1315 Main Street in Vidor with a 97.

Subway, 2205 Highway 62 in McLewis earned a Blue Ribbon Award for a perfect 100.
