Beaumont police release name of man killed in overnight crash

Beaumont police department press release - On 12-5-09 at 3:05 AM officer responded to a wreck in the 5800 block of Ohio Street, just off Cardinal Drive near MLK Parkway. They found a 2002 Mazda pickup overturned on the side of the road. The driver and lone occupant was deceased. The investigation revealed the Mazda was West bound (or north bound on Hwy 69) in the 1800 block of East Cardinal Drive. As the truck approached the MLK exit, over the Sulfur Plant Road, it failed to negotiate the curve and left the roadway. It traveled down the embankment, across Ohio Street, overturned and landed upside down near the tree line. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The icy conditions may have contributed to this crash. The driver was identified as Raymond Bailey 23 of Port Neches. Justice of the Peace Jones came to the scene. The family has been notified.
