January 1, 2010 Leger's Restaurant Report Card

This week's Restaurant Report Card comes to us from the Hardin County Health Department.  Inspector Marian Kellum inspects restaurants in cities and towns across the county.

We've got the highs and lows in this edition of Leger's Restaurant Report Card.

CHEF CHEN 900 HWY 96 SILSBEE/GRADE=76

We begin with Chef Chen on Highway 96 in Silsbee. Inspector Kellum found chicken thawing on the counter which could cause it to spoil. There were both dead and live roaches in the kitchen area. Food was not hot enough at the steam table and a thermometer was needed in the walk in cooler. Chef Chen in Silsbee gets a 76.

GOINGS BBQ 529 SOUTH MAIN LUMBERTON/GRADE=86

Now to Goings BBQ at 529 South Main in Lumberton. Inspector Kellum found the floors and work areas dirty. There were no dates on food in the cooler. She also said food needed to be six inches up off of the floor of the walk in cooler. The ice machine had an employee drink in it.

CASA OLE 915 HWY 96/SILSBEE GRADE=97

The inspector also checked out Casa Ole on Highway 96 in Silsbee. The only problem she found as grease build up on the wall around the fryer. Everything else was in order. Casa Ole gets a nice 97.

RAFAEL'S MEXICAN RESTAURANT 351 SOUTH MAIN/LUMBERTON GRADE=100

And finally we congratulate Rafael's Mexican

Restaurant on South Main in Lumberton. Inspector Kellum checked them out and found no violations. Rafael's earned a perfect score of 100.
