Beaumont Police tell KFDM News a man robbed Guaranty Bank, 6210 Phelan, shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.
A man with a black handgun robbed the bank and left. Police say a dye pack went off.
The robber is described as a black man, 5'7", wearing a navy blue and white baseball cap and a navy blue and white bandana.
Police searched canals off Dowlen Road and other locations in the area near the robbery. A K-9 searched but lost the robber's scent.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the robbery. Police are using the images to help in the search.
Officers patrolled the area near Sallie Curtis Elementary, in the vicinity of the search area, to ensure the safety of students getting out of school. All students had left as of about 4:45 p.m. and the school wasn't under lockdown, according to a person who answered the phone at the school when KFDM News called.

From Beaumont Police Department - On 11-20-09 at 2:57 PM officers responded to an armed robbery at Guaranty Bank 6210 Phelan Blvd. It was learned that a black male entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money. After the suspect got the money he fled around the rear of the bank and was last seen running north behind the building. Police received reports of witnesses seeing the suspect on Peyton and Ivanhoe. Officers searched the area for hours after the robbery.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5 foot 7 inches tall, 30-40 years old, wearing a tan baseball cap, blue and white bandana over his face, a blue and white flannel shirt, and blue jeans. He was armed with a black semi automatic handgun. A possible suspect vehicle, described as a dark green Toyota Camry was seen in front of the bank.
