Vidor ISD Police arrest theft suspects on marijuana charges
Two Vidor men are in jail on drug charges while police investigate a rash of thefts. Officers believe the suspects could help lead them to information about stolen items from the locker room of Vidor High School and other locations. Jessica Holloway reports, three agencies teamed up to put a stop to the thefts.
School police took two men to jail Friday after officers say they seized marijuana from inside their apartment on North Archie in Vidor. It's not just the drugs police are after they want information. Officer Matt Ortego with the Vidor ISD Police Department says there was a rash of more than a dozen thefts including several inside the locker room at Vidor High School. Police say these bags are filled with evidence taken from inside the men's apartment.
Police say what bothers them is the suspects had drugs here where there are working families and children.
School district officials say they try to teach students how to prevent theft by locking up their valuables and avoiding brining them to school if they're not necessary.
This is one of the biggest cases for the school's police department. The agency is heading up the investigation. Officer Ortego says it's a big job and an important one and they take cases like these seriously.
