Manhunt underway following Murder in Kirbyville
Officers throughout Jasper and Newton Counties are searching for two suspects following an apparent murder that took place at the Gateway Motel in Kirbyville on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the motel, located on Highway 96, shortly after 3:00, when it was reported that shots had been fired leaving an unidentified male dead.
Chief Deputy Ralph Nichols said two suspects that were only described as black males wearing hooded sweatshirts were last seen headed south on Highway 96 in a gold colored sport utility vehicle. However, the make or model of the vehicle was unknown.
Nichols and others are advising that the men are to be considered armed and dangerous and that everyone in the area should lock their doors and make sure that the keys are not left in vehicles.
Officers fear that the suspects might try to swap vehicles.
