The Sheriff's Office says at about 2:25 p.m. Friday two men robbed Community Bank on Highway 87 near Highway 12 in Deweyville.

No one was hurt.

"The men walked in and shoulted, 'We want to open an account,'" Sheriff Joe Walker told KFDM News. "Then they robbed the bank."

The men took the money and left in a white, General Motors SUV.

The license plate was covered with duct tape.

The men were last seen traveling east on Highway 12.

Witnesses described the bank robbers as two black men, one about 6' and 250 pounds with dark, curly hair. The other is 5'5" and 180 pounds. He was wearing a plaid shirt and a tan, floppy hat similar to one worn by fishermen.

The men had an automatic pistol and a revolver.

Sheriff Walker says the robbery was captured on surveillance video.  He's taken the video to his office to process.

If you have any information about the bank robbery call the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
