A 79 year old woman was killed and three people received minor injuries, including her 85 year old husband, when troopers say he turned into the path of a car on Highway 96 in Jasper County.
DPS Trooper Kevin Brewster says at about 11 a.m. Thursday, 85 year old S.Q. Berry of Bridge City was trying to turn into Cougar Country, north of Buna, in his 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup when he crossed the southbound lanes of Highway 96 into the path of a soutbound 2007 Lincoln Town Car, driven by 71 year old Gerald D. Davis of Kirbyville.
Trooper Brewster says the Town Car struck the Tacoma on the passenger side door. The passenger, Berry's 79 year old wife, Elverna Berry, was pronounced dead at the scene.
S.Q. Berry, Gerald Davis and Davis' 71 year old wife, Florence, received injuries in the collision.
Jasper County sheriff's deputies also worked the accident.
