Dolly Prompts Coastal Flood Advisory

The approach of Tropical Storm Dolly has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a coastal flood advisory for parts of Southeast Texas and Southeast Louisiana.

The advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Thursday.

Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to move west northwest across the central Gulf and become a hurricane before landfall across the lower Texas coast Wednesday evening.

While the National Weather Service isn't expecting tropical storm force winds across the coastal waters, it does expect a large and prolonged easterly fetch of winds of 20 to 25 knots across the northern Gulf.

This will generate above normal tides for coastal Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Total tide values of 3 to 3.5 feet mllw can be expected during the times of high tide from Tuesday afternoon through late Wednesday evening.

 

The following tidal information:

 

At Cameron on Tuesday-high tide at 6:12 a.m., low tide at 12:48 p.m. High tide at 4:51 p.m., low tide at 11:48 p.m.

At Sabine Pass on Tuesday-low tide at at 12:00 a.m., high tide at 7:08 a.m. Low tide at 1:34 p.m., high tide at 5:47 p.m.

At Vermilion Bay on Tuesday-low tide at 12:05 a.m., high tide at 7:54 a.m. Low tide at 1:39 p.m.,high tide at 6:33 p.m.

At stages of 3 to 3.5 feet mllw, sections of Highway 87 between Port Arthur and Sabine Pass in Jefferson County will have water approaching the roadway.

Across Cameron Parish, water will approach Highway 82 with low spots across the road experiencing minor puddling of water.

Across the remainder of Vermilion, Iberia and St. Mary Parishes, water will approach secondary parish roads.
