PAPD: SUV driver ticketed for collision with ambulance

Port Arthur Police tell KFDM News they've written a ticket to a woman involved in a collision with an ambulance.

Police say an Acadian Ambulance crew was responding to a call at about 6 p.m. Wednesday when the driver of a Ford Expedition pulled out in front of the ambulance. The vehicles collided in the 32-hundred block of Highway 365.

The woman in the Expedition was trapped and firefighters used equipment to cut away the metal and pull her out. She was taken to a hospital. Police say her injuries aren't life threatening.

The driver and patient in the ambulance were taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Police say the woman received a ticket for failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle.
