H1N1 vaccines available in the lakes area
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Families in the lakes area today lined up to get protection from the H1N1 flu virus.
The Jasper Newton County Health Department held the vaccination clinic in two locations, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Staff members say there were 700 doses of the flu mist and the injectable vaccine on hand until 2 p.m.
The nasal version of the vaccine is recommended for non-pregnant, healthy people, ages 2-49.
The injectable type is available to anyone older than six months.
Both the health department and residents say the clinic is crucial in the fight against the flu.
The Jasper Newton County Health Department says they will provide H1N1 vaccinations as long as they're in stock.
The next clinic like this one is expected to be held after Christmas.
The vaccines are free to residents of Jasper, Newton, Sabine, and Tyler counties.
