Woodville man arrested for child porn

BEAUMONT, TX –   From U.S. Attorney's Office - U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that a 32-year-old Woodville, Texas man has been arrested for child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

JAMES MATTHEW CORSI appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Giblin today on charges of possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography.

According to information presented in court, Corsi was arrested on Dec. 14, 2009, in Woodville after having been indicted on Dec. 2, 2009 and charged with possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography.  The indictment alleges that on July 27, 2009, Corsi was in possession of images of child pornography, which he received on his computer.

        This case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. If convicted, Corsi faces up to 10 years in federal prison.  It is important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of either guilt or innocence. 

         This case is being investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Beaumont Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Tortorice.
