The Port Arthur Police Chief was one of the officers involved in a high speed chase across two cities.
In fact, after the suspect wrecked his vehicle, Chief Mark Blanton who will be 52 Monday wound up chasing the 23-year-old on foot across four lanes of traffic on Highway 69 and caught him near the Allen Samuels Car Dealership.
The chase began about 6 o'clock Wednesday night in the Lake View area of Port Arthur.
Police say Fidel Davis led them at high speeds into Groves and then back into Port Arthur where he went the wrong way on Jimmy Johnson Boulevard before officers forced his vehicle into a retaining wall near the on ramp to Highway 69.
Chief Blanton chased the man on foot and arrested him. The Chief says multiple agencies were involved in the pursuit.
Authorities say they aren't sure why the man took off after spotting a patrol car, but say he's been involved in four other chases with police.
Blanton says Davis will now face felony charges.
