Robbers with guns hold up Warren bank

The F.B.I. and the Tyler County Sheriff's Office are investigating what Sheriff David Hennigan says might be the first bank robbery in Warren.

Witnesses say two black men wearing dark hoodies and sunglasses walked into the Community Bank on Highway 69 in Warren at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.  Both men had pistols.

They left with cash and were seen driving north in a black, older model Chevrolet Impala with a silver stripe on the side and shiny wheels.

Sheriff Hennigan says the vehicle was later found abandoned near the Masonic Lodge.  The Impala had been stolen in Harris County.  He says the men likely had another vehicle waiting for them.

"It is kind of quiet ourt here," Warren resident Raymond Henry told KFDM News.  "There doesn't seem to be a lot of crime.  I was just surprised someone would come way out here in the woods to rob a bank."

If you know anything about the robbery, or if you saw a suspicious vehicle near the Masonic Lodge, call EasTex Crime Stoppers at 724-TIPS or the Tyler County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Hennigan says the last bank robbery in Tyler County was five or six years ago, and investigators can't recall another bank robbery in Warren.
