Police release photos of bank robber
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A man who robbed a Beaumont bank got away, but not before surveillance cameras captured several pictures of him.
The robber stole money from Wells Fargo bank off Interstate 10 near Calder in Beaumont.
"He bent over and pulled a gun out of his sock. Started waving the gun and threatening everybody. He wanted the money," says Donald Cobb who witnessed the robbery.
Donald Cobb came face to face with a robber Tuesday morning when a man walked into the Wells Fargo on Calder and I-10, pulled a large caliber semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.
"He had a very intimidating gun he was waving around, threatening to shoot everybody," says Cobb.
"He went to the counter and demanded money from the clerk. Then went to each clerk and demanded money from them as well," says Officer Crystal Holmes with the Beaumont Police Department.
Police say the man was specific in what he wanted from the tellers. He brought a canvas shopping bag to fill, and was well-dressed. He didn't wear a mask, only sunglasses.
And witnesses say it only took a minute.
"I was pretty keyed out right there. Be still and try to glance at him from the side of my eye to look at him, but I didn't want to stare at him," says Cobb.
Police say when the suspect left the bank, he came across McFaddin and headed toward these apartments.
"They're not going to pack where they can be seen getting into a vehicle, so good chance he got into a vehicle just on the other side of these apartments," says Officer Holmes.
Police turned away customers from the drive-thru and the front doors of the bank while they continued to look for the gunman.
They say bank employees did exactly what they should have.
"There is nothing monetary that is worth you getting injured of killed," says Officer Holmes.
"Came to make a deposit for my daughter, I'm not even a customer here!" says Cobb.
An unexpected interruption for Cobb and others who walked inside a bank to do business, and walked out as witnesses to a robbery.
