Comments 0 | Recommend 0BEAUMONT - From Diocese of Beaumont - Sister Marguerite Bartz, the Blessed Sacrament Sister who was found slain in her N.M. convent Nov. 1, will be remembered by Bishop Curtis Guillory, SVD, and the Diocese of Beaumont during a memorial Mass Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. at Infant Jesus, 243 S. L.H.S. Drive, Lumberton.
Sister Bartz was a 1963 graduate of Msgr. Kelly Catholic High School, Beaumont, and still has family in Southeast Texas. She entered the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1966 from Beaumont and professed final vows in 1974.
Authorities charged 18-year-old Reehahlio Carroll with "unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought" in connection with the death of Sister Bartz. He was charged in accordance with federal laws governing Native American nations.
After Sr. Bartz failed to show up for Mass Nov. 1, a colleague found the Blessed Sacrament sister’s body in her St. Berard Convent in Navajo, N.M.
