Beaumont pets have worldwide audience

Beaumont pets in need of a loving home now have a worldwide audience.

The Beaumont animal shelter is using a website, www.petfinder.com, which allows the dogs and cats to be viewed by anyone with a computer.

JoJo is a one-year-old rat terrier that lives at the Beaumont animal shelter.

Employees are hoping a photo shoot will get JoJo a ticket out of here.

“Any alternative method or another outlet we can use to help find homes for animals," said Matt Fortenberry. "Because that's our goal-to find homes for as many animals as we can.”

Fortenberry is looking for JoJo's best picture.  He's uploading her to www.petfinder.com. It's a website that lists adoptable pets.

“It helps tremendously with adopting out the animal and to a wider audience,” said Fortenberry.

Fortenberry enters the type of pet, age, size and location.  Beaumont Animal Services has more than a dozen pets on the website. All are waiting for owners. 

As the dogs or cats become available, they will have a photo shoot.

If you're looking to adopt a pet like Rufus, you can log onto www.petfinder.com. You can also use the website to look up your lost pets.

“It allows the public, they can be at their home or wherever they're located to log onto it if they're missing their animal,” said Fortenberry.

It takes only a matter of minutes.  You can use http://www.petfinder.com to find a JoJo, a Rufus or maybe some puppies. And before you know it, you could be walking out of Beaumont Animal Services with your new best friend.
