Beaumont Police On the Scene of a Standoff

Update: 10:00 - A standoff in Beaumont has ended in a suicide. Beaumont police were called to a domestic disturbance at the French Road apartments on Eastex freeway around 6:00 Saturday evening.

Officers said a couple going through a divorce had been arguing when the man hit the women. She fled the apartment but when officers arrived the 38 year old man refused to come out threatening to kill himself.

Police were told the man had two hand guns inside the apartment. The beaumont swat team was called to the scene. But a short time later the man took his own life. He was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

His name has not been released.

Update 7:20 - Beaumont police say a domestic disturbance has turned into a standoff situation. Officers say the man and his wife got into an argument. She fled the house but the man is refusing to come out. It is believed he has two loaded guns inside the apartment. SWAT Officers are on there way to the scene.

Beaumont police are on the scene of a possible standoff situation at the French Road apartments on Eastex Freeway.

According to a Beaumont dispatcher a call described as a "disturbance call" came into the 911 center around 6:00 this evening. Officers say a man is refusing to come out of his apartment. It has not been released if the Beaumont SWAT Team has been called to the scene.
