A criminal case that has drawn national attention for two years is ending without a trial.

19 year old Joshua Bush pleaded guilty to two charges stemming from a robbery at a used car dealership in Port Arthur in July of 2006.

Police say during the robbery the owner of the car lot returned fire and shot bush, and investigators say that bullet remains lodged in the teenager's head.

Bush had claimed a friend accidentally shot him.

Joshua Bush was charged with six different crimes, today he pleaded guilty to two and prosecutors will drop the other charges.

Bush pleaded guilty to a second degree felony aggravated assault and a third degree felony of deadly conduct.

The Bush family waited outside Judge John Stevens' courtroom for a jury trial.

But before a jury could be selected, Joshua Bush entered the plea.

The jury pool was dismissed just after three this afternoon, and Bush's attorney's had to tell the family about the plea deal.

The bullet that is lodged in the teen's head has drawn a lot more attention than the crimes.

Police say Bush tried to rob a Port Arthur used car lot in July of 2006.

They say he fired at the owner, and the owner returned fire.

Prosecutors say a bullet from the owner's gun is lodged in Bush's head.

Bush said he was accidentally shot when a friend's gun went off.

His plea includes the charge from that crime.

Bush's attorney, Langston Adams says this is the first time the prosecution has offered a plea agreement, and Bush decided it was something he wanted to do.

"Basically, on aggravated assault retaliation case, the plea agreement is capped at 10 years and on the deadly conduct case, it's capped at 7 years. Both cases are to run concurrent," says Langston Adams, Bush's Defense Attorney.

Judge Stevens still has to decide whether to accept or reject the plea agreement, then he will hear testimony from both sides before punishment next month.

Bush could face a sentence ranging from probation to ten years in prison.
