Officers bust mobile meth lab
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 An Orange county man is behind bars after officers say they caught him driving a mobile meth lab. Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies arrested the Vidor man Monday morning around 1:30 in an area West of Beaumont. Deputies believe he was transporting the drugs back and forth to a home in China.
Deputies say the man was probably nervous about making the meth at his home in Vidor so he carried the supplies with him in his car so he could cook the drugs elsewhere.
44 year old Rodney Ray Revia is charged with possession of a controlled substance now. KFDM checked public data and according to that website the man has an extensive record dating back to 1985. He's been convicted a number of times for possession of marijuana and once for LSD, for which he received probation. He's also been charged with burglary of a habitation and convicted of weapons violations.
Now revia's back in jail after officers say they spotted him in his car on the side of the road in China early monday morning. Officers say they searched Revia's vehicle and inside found a suitcase filled with paraphernalia for cooking meth. Deputies believe he was making it for personal use and he was using an organic chemistry book for his recipe.
"For whatever reason he may not have felt comfortable at his house. He may have thought he was being watched, he figured it was safer to be on the road or transport it to another location to finish it out," said Lt. Troy Tucker.
Revia is charged with a second degree felony of drug possession. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
