Man Indicted for Capital Murder in Martin Byerly Killing
July 23, 2008 7:05 PM
The Jasper County grand jurt has indicted a man for capital murder.
The grand jury indicted Eric Smith, 35, on a charge of capital murder in the killing of Martin Byerly.
Prosecutors allege Smith stabbed and killed Byerly while robbing him at a motel in Jasper last September.
Investigators say they found evidence at the scene and in a wooded area, linking Smith to the crime.
Byerly's body was discovered in June in an abandoned oil field in Jasper County.
