Meet Central's new medical magnet coordinator
Comments 0 | Recommend 0CENTRAL - Ms. LaShonda Cobb, Central’s new Medical Magnet coordinator is very stoked about making the Medical Magnet program the best that it can be. In a recent interview, she candidly spoke of the benefits and her feelings about the program.
Many of her responses will benefit those students who are new to Central and would like to know more about this rapidly growing and ever popular program in our school district.
How do you feel about the Medical Magnet Program?
I think it’s a wonderful program and gives students the potential of being in the medical field.
How and when did the Medical Magnet Program start here at Central Medical Magnet High School?
Five years ago, Dr. Thomas wanted to begin a Medical Magnet program for the medical professions in the high schools in Beaumont, Texas.
What are the benefits of full time students in the Medical Magnet Program?
The full time students are eligible for dual credit. The part time students receive dual credit with face to face learning sessions with the LIT professors, and also receive pharmacy tech or license, nursing certification, and emergency service training.
Once the high school students graduate will they be able to get a job in the medical field right away?
Hospitals are known for hiring students in the summer that have received their certification. Yes, they can begin entry level work in the health care profession.
