Shots fired during chase
A chase that began with shots fired in Hardin County has ended with troopers laying down spikes and taking a driver into custody in Chambers County.
No one was hurt.
Sgt. Chuck Havard with the Department of Public Safety in Beaumont tells KFDM News a constable fired two shots in an effort to stop the fleeing driver on Highway 105 in Hardin County. Officers tried to stop the man for speeding at about 2:15 p.m. and later learned he had a DWI warrant.
The shots missed and the chase continued into Jefferson County. The Sheriff's Office assisted as law enforcement officers pursued the driver on Highway 365 in Nome.
The chase continued onto FM 1406 in Chambers County. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office assisted the DPS in trying to stop the vehicle. Sgt. Havard says troopers used spikes to stop the driver and taken him into custody at about 3 p.m. on Meneley Road, off FM 1406 south of Interstate 10.
The 46 year old man is from Cleveland.
