Michael Dewayne "Boo" Carter, a 30 year old Jasper man who has been arrested numerous times, and was even shot once, has been sentenced to 40 years in state prison after stabbing a store clerk almost 20 times last year.

Carter appeared before District Judge Joe Bob Golden in the Jasper County Courthouse on Friday and pleaded guilty to stabbing Ali Hasam Adiani 19 times during a robbery at the Sunshine Convenience Store on North Wheeler at Main Street on December 5th, 2007.

Adiani survived, but he was hospitalized for over a week in critical condition following the attack.

Following his sentence, Carter told KJAS News "I screwed up, I deserve it, I just want to get my life straight now".

Carter will not be eligible for parole until 2028, when he is 50 years old.
