Woman indicted for Hardin County murder
Comments 0 | Recommend 06 P.M. Story:
Investigators say 40 year old Allison Marita Trahan admits shooting her husband but claims she did it in self defense.
Today, the Hardin County grand jury indicted Trahan for murder, and a warrant for her arrest will be issued.
She is charged with murdering her husband, 29 year old Damien Louis Jones, on April 5 at their home on East Pine Shadows in Pinewood.
Allison Trahan contends she shot her husband in self defense on April 5th, but the Hardin County District Attorney says the evidence doesn't add up to support that claim.
Sheriff Ed Cain told us in a past interview deputies had been called to the home in the 12-hundred block of East Pine Shadows on more than one occasion to deal with domestic disputes.
Deputies received a call at about 8:30 on the morning of April 5 and found Jones dead at their home.
Hardin County District Attorney David Sheffield says several hours elapsed from the time neighbors say they heard gun shots, around 6:30 that morning, and the time the call came in to law enforcement.
Sheffield says Hardin County deputies and Beaumont crime scene investigators carefully went through the physical evidence before the case was sent to the grand jury.
"It was all looked at, digested, and the lead investigator presented that evidence to the grand jury. They took all that into consideration and made the decision." says Sheffield.
At news time we had not heard back from Trahan's attorney.
If convicted, Trahan could face up to life in prison.
Her bond has been set at half a million dollars.
