JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Over several months, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation with several local law enforcement agencies on burglaries and thefts in the north and west areas of rural Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Precinct 4 Constable's Office assisted the sheriff's office during the investigation and was a key role in the Investigation. This investigation was a cooperative effort with Orange and Hardin County Law Enforcement as well as several from Jefferson County. With the help and assistance of these other agencies, the Jefferson County Sheriff Criminal Investigations Division was able to clear over 30 cases reported to our agency. These cases included unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Burglary of a building, burglary of a habitation, and auto burglary. Three persons have either had felony charges filed against them or have been arrested for these offenses.
During this investigation detectives seized numerous items of stolen property valued at over 20,000.00 dollars. Sheriff detectives have been able to identify and return a majority of the property and are still working to identify and return property to the rightful owners.
