Two shot, one jailed in Sabine County
SABINE COUNTY - by Steve Stewart/KJAS - A Hemphill man is out of jail on bond, while his girlfriend and another man are undergoing treatment after being shot on Tuesday evening. According to Sabine County Deputy David West, the incident occurred at a residence on Farm to Market Road 1368, east of Hemphill.
West said Heather Tarver, 20, and her friend, Willis Washington, 26, were sitting in a car in the driveway at her boyfriend's residence when he came out of the house with a 410 shotgun, and fired a shot at close range through the windshield of the car.
Tarver was hit in her shoulder, while Washington was hit in his arm near the elbow. At last word, they were both scheduled to undergo surgery in a Nacogdoches hospital.
West said the incident occurred after Tarver and her boyfriend, 27-year-old James Dayton Hoyle, Jr., got into an argument. West said Tarver got a ride from Washington, and he took her to Hoyle's residence to pick up her two children that were fathered by Hoyle.
Hoyle was arrested without incident, and later appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was charged with one count of first degree aggravated assault for shooting Tarver, and West says another charge of first degree aggravated assault for shooting Washington is pending.
The judge assessed a $50,000.00 bond, and Hoyle was later released after posting bail.
