Tropical Storm Forms in Atlantic

MIAMI (AP) - Tropical Storm Bertha has formed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa.

At 10 a.m. CDT Thursday, the center of the storm was located about 190 miles south-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.

The second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season is moving toward the west-northwest at about 14 miles-per-hour, and forecasters expect that to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds were near 40 miles-per-hour. Some gradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or two.

Scattered Storms Through The Weekend!!!


Scattered showers will be on the increase this week as moisture returns. Some of the storms could be heavy by Thursday and Friday as deeper moisture returns.


Tropical Depression #2 in the far east Atlantic is gradually becoming better organized.  This system looks as though it will be an open Atlantic storm and not threated the Gulf of Mexico.
