A Jasper man has died from injuries he received when an oak tree fell onto a stump and then rolled on top of him.
A spokesman for the Jasper Fire Department says C.W. Land was part of a crew clearing a grove of trees at about 1 p.m. Wednesday on Bevil Loop when a large oak tree fell onto a stump and rolled on top of him.
Workers used a skidder to move the tree off of him while emergency crews rushed to the scene.
Land was taken by ambulance to the helipad at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital and then flown to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, where he died at about 4 a.m. Thursday.
