Former Vidor Mayor to Run for Seat Held by Mike Hamilton

A former Vidor mayor will run in the Democratic Primary for the seat held by State Representative Mike Hamilton.

Larry Hunter will announce his candidacy for the District 19 seat during a news conference at noon Thursday at the Brown Center in Orange.

The Democratic Primary will be on March 3.

Hunter has served as Mayor of Vidor, President of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Water Control and Improvement District No.1, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Vidor Independent School District. He has previously been appointed as Municipal Judge and City Attorney of Rose City, Counsel for Orange County Rural Fire Prevention District, and Counsel for the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission, which serves Hardin, Jefferson and Orange counties.

Texas House District 19 covers Hardin, Newton and the majority of Orange County.
