Evacuation Traffic Update
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
The Beaumont EOC has received a number of complaints from Southeast Texas citizens in reference to traffic situations in the Chambers County area. The traffic in the Anahuac area on IH10 is moving at about 8 m.p.h. There is a large roadway construction area that has the freeway down to two narrowed lanes. Traffic is backed up significantly on the freeway and service road. There are disabled vehicles on the side of the roadway. DPS and Chambers County Deputies are handling those issues. At this time, once motorists clear the Trinity River Bridge, it is open. Also, the HOV lanes on the Katy Freeway, IH10 West bound, are open. Traffic is picking up on IH10 in Orange and through Beaumont
Emergency officials have just opened westbound US 90 at SH 146 to traffic. Traffic is no longer being diverted north on SH 146 as per the evacuation plan.
This will significantly improve US 90 traffic flow and help eliminate delays. Also, the traffic light in Ames on US 90 is in yellow flash mode for US 90
traffic.
Southeast Texans are urged to avoid IH10 West bound and take the designated evacuation routes. We have reports from the Liberty County Sheriffs Department that traffic on Hwy 90 is picking up. Important information for evacuees.

Hardin County sheriff Ed Cain advises that traffic id flowing smoothly through Hardin County. According to DPS, the Hurricane evacuation lanes (clearly marked lanes that utilize the shoulder of the roadway) have not been activated at this time.
