Police say Port Acres man uses homemade explosive to blow up clothes dryer

A 29 year old Port Acres man is in custody after police say he blew up a clothes dryer machine with fireworks.

Officers and firefighters were called to a home in the 2300 block of 62nd St. in Port Acres around 7:30p.m. Saturday night.

They found a blown up clothes dryer that was destroyed by a homemade explosive device in a vacant lot. Debris from the explosion was scattered over most of the lot, which was in a residential neighborhood.

The 29 year old was arrested and charged with Prohibited Weapon/Explosive Weapon, a 3rd degree felony.

what a joke,,, felony?
looks like we all are felons now...
bet a few of us have tied a bunch of fireworks together..
or taken the powder out to mak a bigger firework,,,
how bout pi or disorderly conduct...
not a terroristic charge...
a felony seems a little much here...
with whats explained in the article...
must be more to the story..
possibly pipe bomb...

Ditto jacksass....just sounds like someone was wanting a "big bang" and it is not like he was threatening someone with this according to the article.....jeeezzzz!!!

we rolled up newspaper once ,
into a ball about 2 foot in diameter..
soaked it in oil and gasoline,, set it and my arm hairs on fire..
then rolled it out on the feeder road of ten..
quite a smoke ball..
i was very proud..
till the firedept and police showed up...
dripping oil from the mass of papers as we carried over to the feeder road.
led right back to my friends house,,, the scene of the crime..
man we got our a ss e s beat...
ive got to say.. that wasstupid..
no to outdo the fire extinguisher and the axe accident..
those things have a lot of pressure on them,,
crack one open with an axe..
quick release..
principles of science should be taught in greater depth at a much younger
age...
i must say...
