Two-year-old Reece finds a Forever Family
NEDERLAND - A Port Arthur mother says a two year old boy has brought a new meaning to her life.
And now she wants to change his life by adopting him during national adoption month.
Edi Crook brings two year old Reece to Doornbos Park in Nederland once a week.
“There is nothing like the laughter and the love of a child,” said Edi Crook.
Edi loves to watch Reece feed the ducks because it makes him happy.
“Couldn't imagine my life without him at this point,” said Crook.
Cps removed Reece from his mother and placed him in Edi's care when he was 5 months old.
“I am so excited, I cannot even express how excited I am, and it’s going to be great,” said Crook.
She's preparing to become his adoptive mother.
“Every child deserves a happy, safe environment to grow up and a happy loving childhood,” said Crook.
Edi's excited about having a young child in her home again. She has two older children, ages 23 and 22
Edi's noticed a little more patience this time around.
“To have that in my home again is like no greater blessing in the world,” said Crook.
She's a single parent...so they do everything together...
“He likes to play his drums while i cook dinner, he plays for mommy,” said Crook.
They also color pictures, watch movies and ride bikes.
“It’s been a long process, but very fulfilling. I love Reece and I’m excited to be his forever mommy,” said Crook.
A process Edi recommends to others.
And one she says will be worth the wait when the adoption is official on November 22nd.
13 families will adopt 17 children on national adoption day on November 22nd in Jefferson County.
