A Tyler County family lost their home and all of their possessions to a Wednesday night fire. The Woodville and Colmesneil Fire Departments responded to the Stanley and Gale Mitchell residence in downtown Doucette shortly after 9:00 when the blaze was reported. Firefighters tried to save the home but the structure was damaged beyond repair.

Gale Mitchell said the fire started in a vacant house next door and spread to her house. Colmesneil Fire Chief Steve Bell said on Thursday that the cause of the fire has not been determined and the case remains under investigation.

A Colmesneil junior firefighter was injured during the incident; 18 year old Raymond Bell suffered smoke inhalation and was released from an area hospital on Thursday. Raymond is the son of Colmesneil Fire Chief Steve Bell.

The Mitchells and their 13 year old son, Cody, were not injured in the incident.
