Police Release Identity of Woman Killed in I-10 Collision
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Beaumont Police have identified a woman who was killed in a collision involving a truck and several cars Monday on Interstate 10 near Ford Park.
The woman is identified as 33 year old Holly K. Rollins of Rosebud, Texas, east of Temple.
The drivers of a green Dodge, blue Cougar and white Silverado are all listed in critical condition. The driver of the SUV and the driver of the 18 wheeler were treated for their injuries and released.
The accident on Interstate 10 West shut down the highway for more than six hours Monday.
Police say the accident happened just after 2 p.m. on I-10 in front of Ford Park.
According to witnesses, the driver of a green Dodge truck and the driver of a Chevy Silverado were traveling east when they collided, causing them to veer through the median and into the path of west bound traffic.
The Dodge truck struck a blue Mercury Cougar head on, causing the driver to be thrown from the car. The Dodge then hit an S-U-V.
An 18 wheeler tanker truck carrying petroleum struck the Silverado, causing both the vehicles to flip.
The woman in the Cougar was transported to a hospital. She died a short time later.
Three other people were also taken to the hospital, including one who's listed in serious condition.
Police re-opened all lanes of traffic around 9 p.m. Monday. They say it took several hours to clear the scene because the haz-mat team had to clean up petroleum, gas, diesel, and transmission fluid.
