A jury began deliberating Wednesday afternoon in the felony theft trial of a former City Secretary in China, and the jurors will return Thursday to continue deliberations.
Earlier Wednesday, a second witness testified the former employee took cash from the City of China.
Heather Harrison is a former City Secretary in China. The 30 year old is on trial for felony theft.
Prosecutors allege she embezzled at least $61,000 and possibly more than $100,000.
They believe the embezzlement took place from January of 2004 until July of 2005.
Carl Rose, an investigator with the District Attorney's office, testified that when he interviewed Harrison in the summer of 2005 and asked her what happened to the money, she said, "I took it."
During testimony Tuesday, a former mayor of China, Charles Fancey, said Harrison also admitted to him and to three law enforcement investigators that she took money from the city.
