Foskey family talks to KFDM about indictment, arrest in 14-year-old murder case

Teresa Foskey would have been 41 this month.   She was murdered 14 years ago.  Foskey was killed in 1995. She was 28 years old.

Last week, law enforcement officers arrested 41-year-old James Edward Holden and charged him with capital murder.

This picture and paper may look 14-years-old, but the memory of Theresa Foskey and the details of her death are still fresh in her family members' minds.

"There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about her," said Foskey's mother, Laura Badeaux.

Police believe Foskey was killed at her mobile home in Bridge City in September of 1995. She was 28. Investigators say Foskey's murderer dismembered her body. it was found days later in and near the Sabine River.

The case was given new life last week with the indictment and arrest of 41-year-old Jamie Holden. Authorities say scientific evidence played a key role in solving the cold case murder.

Foskey's mother, Laura Badeaux released this statement early Tuesday. It reads in part, "I have waited nearly 14 years for the person responsible for stabbing and butchering my daughter to be apprehended."

Later in the afternoon, Badeaux told KFDM she wasn't surprised when police named Holden.

"He's been a suspect since day one," said Badeaux, "I do believe he's the one."

Badeaux says she's satisfied with where the case is today, and thankful for everyone who worked to bring it to this point. Foskey's sisters say they're also pleased with the outcome. All of Foskey's family, including her two daughters, now in their 20s, are just ready to move forward. But Badeaux says that won't be without, "justice.. to know that they got someone.. and we won't never forget her."

Foskey's family says they want the state to seek the death penalty because, "he didn't let Theresa live."

The Orange County District Attorney's office has yet to decide how it will try the case.
