ARE --MISDEMEANOR Warrants STOPPING YOUR SUCCESS IN LIFE?
TO BE ELIGIBLE YOU MUST HAVE ACTIVE Misdemeanor WARRANTS AND YOU MUST BE WILLING TO SURRENDER!!!
This is not an amnesty program. It is important to note that depending on your judicial situation, it may require you to remain in jail and not be eligible for bond/release and/or this program.
Fresh Start Safe Surrender Eligibility requirements:
- Active Misdemeanor Arrest Warrants
- Be eligible for release
However, anyone who has active arrest warrants is encouraged to surrender!
If you surrender before the dates announced, you can still show up at the surrender location anytime from July 28th thru July 31st to receive the services you may need.
The process will be as follows: The only item you should bring to the location is one valid form of Identification.
- You surrender to Law Enforcement at the fresh start location TBA
- You are screened by law enforcement for active warrants at the location and if warrants are found, you are transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility; where you are screened and booked in and if you meet the requirements of release; you are released through the normal jail release procedures.
- If you are released, the Church partner transports you back to the church location to receive Educational resources, Counseling, Social services, Job Placement and assistance, and procedures on obtaining a valid identification.
- Utilize the resources provided through the program to become successful and responsible for your actions resulting in a productive citizen.
Again, If you have any out of County Warrants OR have any outstanding city traffic warrants or Felony Warrants you can still surrender.
This program is rewarding and produces positive results that come out of this program for law enforcement, judicial system, community and most importantly the person.
Operation Fresh Start is a unique, creative, and highly successful, initiative that encourages persons wanted for misdemeanor warrants to voluntarily surrender to law enforcement in a faith-based or other neutral setting. It should be noted that you can surrender regardless of what type of warrant you have.
Fugitives often hide their identities to avoid detection. They live in constant fear of arrest, and out of the mainstream of their own communities, supporting themselves by continued non-violent criminal activity; non-criminal work where they are paid “under the table” and have no health care or other benefits; a financial burden for employed, law-abiding family members. In all these instances the fugitive status creates a broad range of burdens and dangers for the fugitives themselves, their families, and the community. We currently have numerous active misdemeanor warrants in Jefferson County and this program offers a unique opportunity to take their first and most crucial step toward community re-entry program.
This program encourages persons to take the leading action to do what is right by taking responsibility for their actions in order to gain re-entry into the workforce and obtain education as well as other counseling services.
Many people do not have the necessary identification or driver’s license to obtain employment and/or services. This program facilitates the process for a positive re-entry back into the community, education and employment.
