DPS Releases Names of Victims of Motorcycle Crash on Rayburn Spillway

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the names of two people who died and several who were injured in a collision involving five motorcycles on top of the Lake Sam Rayburn spillway Friday afternoon.

Robert Benjamin Boren, 42, of Galveston, and Donald Mitchell Jackson, 60, of Wells, died at the scene when they collided at about noon Friday on Highway 255 on top of the dam.

According to a DPS report, Boren was traveling west on a 2006 Harley Davidson and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with Jackson, who was traveling east on his 2005 Yamaha.

Arthur Warren Wright, 56, of Lufkin, was traveling eastbound on a Harley Davidson and struck Jackson's motorcycle.  Wright suffered a broken leg and was taken by EMS to a Lufkin hospital where he underwent surgery late Friday night.  Wright is now reported to be in stable condition.

Floyd Nolan Wall, 40, of Diboll, was eastbound on a 2007 Kawasaki.  His motorcycle slid to a stop on its side.

Todd Morgan Weller, 33, of Alvin, was westbound on a 2007 Harley,  Weller also slid to a stop.

Christi Renee Wall, 34, of Diboll, and Taylor Weller, 12, were also injured in the wreck.

All of the injured people were treated at Jasper Memorial Hospital and released, according to the DPS.

A number of ambulances were sent to the scene, as well as the Lake Rayburn and Angelina River Fire Departments.

The roadway was blocked until early Friday night while officers investigated the accident.
