Man found shot to death in Groves

Law enforcement officers are investigating a homicide in Groves, and City Marshal Jeff Wilmore has released the name of the victim.

He identifies him as Vincent Mullins Junior, 43, of Port Arthur. The victim's last known address was on 41st Street in Port Arthur.

Mullins' body was discovered shortly before midnight at the Amber Park Apartments, 5305 Gulfway Drive in Groves.

According to Wilmore, the body had several entry wounds that authorities believe came from a handgun. Wilmore says it appeared there had been a struggle. There was broken glass in the apartment.

Mullins was a visitor to the apartment.

Wilmore says investigators have interviewed the person who lives in the apartment and several other people. No charges have been filed.

  Precinct 7 Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett was called to the scene. He's ordered an autopsy.

Apartment complex manager Maria Martinez told KFDM News she's worked there for 3 years and the atmosphere has always been calm. She says a surveillance camera mounted on the office building captured some of the crime.

Law enforcement officers are searching for the gunman.
