BISD Student Arrested For Having Gun at School
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KFDM News has learned a Beaumont 7th grader was arrested Thursday afternoon for having a gun at school.
BISD Police Chief Clydell Duncan tells KFDM the 14 year old was arrested at King Middle School, near the end of the school day, for having an unloaded, 38 caliber handgun.
Chief Duncan says a student who knew about the gun told the principal, who in turn notified the BISD police department.
The student told police he got the gun from a relative's home and brought it to school because he was being threatened. Chief Duncan says the best way to prevent a child from feeling compelled to bring a gun to school is by talking to your children.
The student has been detained at the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Facility, accused of unlawfully carrying a gun in a weapons free zone.
